Description
NAS storage is a box of disks on your network that everyone in the office can reach. It holds shared files, receives backups and, with the right RAID setting, keeps working when one disk fails.
What you get
- 2-bay, 4-bay, 8-bay and rack-mount models
- Disks chosen for always-on use
- RAID set-up and user permissions
- Scheduled backup to a second device
- Remote access without opening the office to the internet
Worth knowing
RAID is not a backup. It protects you from a failed disk, not from a deleted folder or a virus, so we add a second copy somewhere else and test restoring from it. Choose bigger disks than you need today, because a NAS filled to the brim gets slow.
It connects with virtualization, storage and backup.
