UPS, Inverter & Solar Backup for IT in Rawalpindi

Load-shedding is a fact of life, but a server that crashes every time the power flickers does not have to be. We size and install UPS systems, inverters and solar backup for offices, server rooms and shops, based on what you really use.

Solar backup, an inverter or a UPS: which one you need depends on what has to keep running, and for how long. We start by measuring that.

What actually goes wrong

It is rarely the long outage that damages equipment. It is the flicker: power drops for half a second, comes back with a spike, drops again. A server rebooting in the middle of a database write, a switch that restarts and takes the whole office offline, a hard disk that never recovers. A decent UPS takes all of that out of the picture.

Choosing a UPS

There are three kinds, and the difference is worth knowing. A standby unit is the cheap one for a single PC. A line-interactive unit corrects voltage and is fine for small offices and network cabinets. An online double-conversion unit feeds your equipment from the inverter all the time, so the output is clean even when the supply is not. Servers and anything important should be on an online unit. We recommend the cheaper types honestly when that is all you need.

The size comes from a calculation, not a guess: what you plug in, how many watts it really draws, how long you want it to keep going. Most people want ten to fifteen minutes, enough for the generator to start or for a clean shutdown. Some want hours, and that is a different design.

Inverters and solar

For offices and shops that want to run through long outages, an inverter with a battery bank does the job. Add solar panels and the system charges from the sun during the day, runs the lights and computers, and falls back on the battery in the evening. We often keep the air conditioner out of it, because it consumes far more than everything else combined. The IT circuit, the lights and the network are what you actually need during a cut.

Batteries are the part that surprises people. Lead-acid is cheaper to buy and needs replacing every few years, particularly in hot rooms. Lithium iron phosphate costs more at the start and lasts a lot longer, so over five years it is often the better buy. We show both and let you choose.

The boring bits that decide the result

A UPS cannot fix bad earthing, and it will not help if somebody plugs a heater into it. We check the earthing, separate the protected circuit from the rest, label the sockets and show your staff what can and cannot be plugged in. Where there is a generator, we fit an automatic changeover so the transition is not a frantic dash with a screwdriver. Batteries sit somewhere cool, with space around them, and we write the replacement date on the cabinet.

This is the foundation for a server room and for solar CCTV, and the same ideas apply to EV charging at home. Our hardware and network team can fit a small UPS to a cabinet the same day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long will the UPS run?

It depends on the load and the batteries. A small office UPS gives ten to fifteen minutes. If you want an hour or more, we size a bigger battery bank, and we show you the numbers first.

Can I put the air conditioner on the UPS?

We advise against it. An air conditioner draws a lot of power and would need a very large system. Keep the UPS for computers, network and lights, and use a generator or solar for cooling if you need it.

Lead-acid or lithium batteries?

Lead-acid costs less today and needs replacing sooner, especially in a hot room. Lithium costs more up front and lasts far longer. For anything running daily, lithium often wins over five years. We give you both prices.

Can you add solar to the UPS I already have?

Sometimes. It depends on whether the unit can take a solar input. If not, we may recommend a hybrid inverter and keep the old UPS for a small circuit.
