Description
VoIP gateways connect the old world to the new one. They link analogue phone lines, or old desk phones and fax machines, to an IP phone system, so you can modernise without throwing everything away.

Worth knowing
Count the lines and extensions you want to keep, and decide whether each needs the FXO or the FXS side: lines from the exchange are FXO, phones on your desk are FXS. Fax over IP can be fussy, so we test it, and we keep one real line for the alarm panel if you rely on it.
They are used in IP PBX and cloud call center upgrades, and the phones themselves are under VoIP phones and headsets.
